Rail Power

- Reduce Overall Energy Consumption
- Reduce Peak Power Demand Charges
- Provide Voltage Support for Traction Power Substations
- Avoid Building Additional Transmission Stations
REGEN: It is power to a new magnitude, power captured then reapplied. It is the full potential of new-generation AC-powered trains finally realized and profitably put to use.
VYCON’s REGEN Rail System provides dependable fast-cycling power—where and when it’s needed. That’s perfect for transit systems where more energy is required at rush hours, when it comes at a higher price.
VOLTAGE SUPPORT
REGEN is also a highly efficient voltage support system, supplying energy to sections of track where existing traction power substations may not be able to support demand - protecting against scheduling delays and even full track shutdown. It can do all this for lower costs and at far shorter lead times than the only other available option, adding a new traction power substation. VYCON is modular and occupies very little space. It’s a true plug-and-play solution.
The VYCON REGEN Rail System meets the growing needs of electric rail operators with a practical, affordable technology, aimed at lowering peak power demand and reducing grid energy draw—and available now.
- Higher performance
- Reduced starting energy use
- Regenerated braking energy savings
- Low maintenance
- Favorable capital costs
- Enhanced ROI
PEAK SHAVING
Newer fleets of AC trains can regenerate a great deal of power from braking energy—often times equal to the peak power needed to accelerate another train away from a station. But, until REGEN, the practical application of this capability has not been realized. The VYCON REGEN Rail System can capture regenerated braking energy and discharge it to help power another train as it accelerates away from a passenger station. The result: lower peak power demand and less total energy required. Called Energy Saving or Peak Shaving, these savings come when they’re needed the most, during peak hours when grid energy comes at a premium price.
